Context
A few years ago, the Seigneurie funeral cooperative embarked on a turnaround with the aim of not only expanding, but also reimagining the experience offered to users.

It was with the Quebec City-based architecture firm ultralocal that Perron was commissioned to initiate this necessary rethinking in what was to become a major change for this funeral cooperative located in the Beauport district of Quebec City.

Conceptual approach
Wanting to create an atmosphere conducive to quietude and contemplation, we focused the process first and foremost on the human experience. We made sure to bring back all the nobility this gathering place deserves through the use of real, natural materials.

On the second floor, it was important to offer a complementary and different ambiance than in the gathering areas, in line with the emotional curve proposed in the ritual by the funeral cooperative.

Result
The first floor is characterized by natural light, interior gardens and natural textures, while the upper floor has a more subdued atmosphere conducive to interaction. Out of respect for the nature of the activities that take place there, the space stands out for its overall softness and attention to detail.
